All cards issued by OTP Bank have a TeleCode; by default, this is the last 3 digits of the account associated with the debit or credit card. If you wish to use your TeleCode for identifying yourself when making online purchases, you will need to change the code.
But if you wish to verify your online purchases with the OTP SmartBank app, you will not need to use a TeleCode.
-
If you wish to use the OTP SmartBank app to identify yourself when making an online purchase, you must update the application. The OTP SmartBank app on your device will remind you of the need to update; you will not be able to complete the payment without this update.
-
If that is the case, you can continue making your online purchases in the usual way after 2 November 2020; you do not need to identify yourself in multiple steps. This will become mandatory from 1 January 2021 when you shop online with a merchant who supports multi-factor verification (all merchants with a card acceptance agreement with a financial institution in the European Union will be required to do so from 1 January 2021).
-
This change aims to improve the current security for card use even further. The requirement for Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) was introduced by the European Union in Directive 2015/2366 adopted in 2015 (the Directive is often referred to as PSD2). It aims to further reduce the prevalence of fraud in e-commerce. The tightening up of the authentication process means that banks can now conduct even more comprehensive checks to determine whether the card used for a payment is being used by its rightful owner or an unauthorised person.
-
Az új PSD2 irányelv alapján
- alacsony összegű,
- kockázatértékelés alapján alacsony kockázatú,
- Ismétlődő online fizetések esetében (például feliratkozások, előfizetések) az első vásárlásnál történik erős ügyfél-hitelesítés, a felhatalmazás megadása után, a későbbi tranzakcióknál nem.
-
From 1 January 2021, the new rules will apply to all card purchases on websites operating in the European Economic Area (i.e. the member states of the European Union as well as the United Kingdom, Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland). In countries other than the above (e.g. in Asia or America), online merchants may not implement these rules.
-

Identification for online purchases is free of charge whether in the SmartBank app or using an online security code and your TeleCode.

To protect user data, most payment platforms close automatically after a few minutes if the payment is not successful. You will not be charged, since the purchase was not successful.
In such cases, we recommend that you restart the payment with all the necessary information to hand. If you wish to identify yourself using an online security code received by text message and your TeleCode instead of the SmartBank mobile banking app, you will receive a new SMS code and you will also need to re-enter your TeleCode.
